Favorite Things [a few] |Alabama Photographer|

Happy Thursday!! Thursdays have always been one of my favorite days of the week, not sure why, they just always seemed to bring happiness as the end of the work week came to a close, it could also be that it was when Friends came on, it’s when The Big Bang Theory comes on, and in college, it was typically my no-study-day!

So I thought I’d do a quick little blog about some of my favorite things, and be sure you read until the end, there MAY be a favorite things surprise waiting for you.:D

Number 1:

Coffee mugs. And well, let’s face it, the coffee that goes IN them as well.
These are a few of my favorites from my {every growing} collection. I have way too many and can’t wait until we build our next home so I can have a designated area just for my little ceramic loves! I get them from all my favorite places, Etsy, Anthropologie, Target, you name it!

Number 2:
My Anthropologie latte bowls!! This is only a quarter of the ones that I have, in different colors as well, I love the mismatching allowance it gives me, but they still GO together.:DMakes me a happy little clam in my kitchen! Since we’re lucky enough, here in Huntsville, to have an Anthro at our very finger tips, I was stopping by every few weeks to see when there were new colors to bring home! But after spending some time on their website, I realized you could even order them in colorful sets!! I like to think I inspired the idea!!

Number 3:
If you know me at all, you know I LOVE cleaning, it’s the sad truth, but there it is. Love it! And a few years ago I made the decision to go chemical-free in our home and have been cleaning with vinegar and baking soda, and lots of other homemade remedies for a messy house. But while watching ABC’s Shark Tank, I discovered the Better Life cleaning brand. It’s amazing! I can’t say enough good things about it! It’s plant-based, and 100% safe! Not to mention, they have some great packaging, and as a graphic design student, I’m a sucker for great packaging!

Number 4:
I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and while Pinterest is an incredibly useful source for recipes, I love cookbooks. I love the smell, the feel, the incredible photographs, you name it! And this book doesn’t fail to deliver on all those points. Not only is the food INSIDE of it amazing, but the photographs are exquisite, the feel and smell of the pages brings me back to my childhood and all my time spent in the library, or my room, with my face shoved in a book. Haylie Duff’s Real Girl’s Kitchen has a show on Ora TV right now and I’ve heard it’s coming to Food Network in June!! I hope it’s true! It’d be amazing to see some of my favorite recipes come to life!

Number 5:
My baking cupboard!! These are just a few examples of what’s in my cupboard right now, my latest project!! Not only am I a sucker for baking, but as an organizing junkie, I really want things labeled and nestled into their happy little places. Call it OCD if you want, but you always know what you get at my house. I found these adorable little chalkboard labels on Etsy!! And the 32oz Mason jars at my local Target. It’s so much nicer than having everything in its original packaging. It’s easier to find, easier to see for quantity purposes, and come on – it’s just plain adorable!

……………..and last but not least…………………

Number 6:
Bloom Theory camera straps! I feel like their marketing spokeswoman, I know, but I can’t rave about these beauties enough! I always hated wearing my Nikon camera straps, I felt like I was a walking advertisement. Like “Oh here, THIS is what my camera body is”, and not only that – but they were so dreadfully uncomfortable! It looked like I had carpet burn on my neck and shoulders after carrying gear around a wedding all day. These lovelies aren’t just gorge, but SO comfy!! And their new scarf straps are whimsical and light and remind me of Springtime! They’re just as strong as the traditional straps too! This isn’t even all of the ones I’ve owned. Sadly, the first Bloom Theory strap purchase is no longer with us, it was used and used and since retired. But my collection continues to grow as do their design options!!! So here’s the big news …. I’m giving away one of the Bloom Theory Scarf Straps!!!! All you have to do in order to win is head over to Facebook and be sure to find Jessica Magee Studios‘ page {psst ….. that’s the link!} and LIKE it! Then, head back over here to THIS blog and leave a comment with which scarf strap you hope to win! You have some time to enter, I’ll be randomly drawing the name of the winner on May 1st! Adam+Bethany |Alabama Engagement Photographer|

My wonderfully sweet college friend, Bethany, has found THE man for her!! Adam is so sweet with her, always goofing around, making her smile, and treats her the way everybody knows she deserves.:DI love this girl! Their wedding is still a ways off, but with her being a short-long distance (just over the border in Atlanta, GA) away at law school I don’t get to visit with her as often as I’d like. So I was so excited we got to get together for her engagement pictures!! We’ll have another round later this year when the cotton is in bloom since we weren’t able to have any for this part of the session! And cotton is a huge part of her wedding since they’re getting married in a GORGEOUS old cotton mill in Georgia! I can’t wait!!

The Hodges | Alabama Photographer |

So, running into just about any celebrity wouldn’t have me starstruck, I respect very few celebrities {Ok, Jennifer Lawrence might make me stutter a tad, and I’d probably make out with Hugh Jackman}, but I had a starstruck moment during this photo shoot. As embarrassing as it is to admit, I love Dillon Hodges music, seriously. I like very few CDs through their entirety. Usually there’s a song or two I’ll skip and never remember again, not the case with Dillon. His music is his. It’s amazing. Everything means something and it gives me chills. Christopher and I loving listening to him live as well! So when his wife Elise (that I’d connected with on IG  of all things!) asked me about a few Christmas card images for them to give out this year, I was ecstatic! They are Border Collie parents as well, so I was so excited to finally meet their little furbaby Penny! Elise is a budding photographer as well in the Nashville, TN area and took a few shots of me, Christopher, and OUR Border Collie, Aviar for our Christmas card! So I guess I can cross ‘Photograph a famous singer’ off my photography bucket list (which I should blog!!)
